As I was getting setup for the evening, I took a minute to look at my surrounding and I found the Big Dipper nestled between two trees. I used a flashlight to illuminate and give color to the trees and a bit of the ground. A couple of friends were out at Allerton Park recently and noticed a statue in a clearing that might make a good Nightscape image. So one night after work, I headed out there to plan the shot, but noticed the road leading to the statue was closed to vehicles. So I grabbed my camera equipment and started walking. About a quarter mile later, I noticed the trees on the sides of the road becoming very dense and there was a storm moving in. To put this in its proper context, the park is 30 minutes away from any town of appreciable size, so it was already dark. With the trees folding in on each side, in the middle of the night, made the scene very dark and very creepy. So instead of continuing down this road (I didn't what to get too far away since it was going to rain, I set-up my equipment right there on the dirt road. Never made it to the statue. That will be a trip for another night. I used a palm light to illuminate some of the trees in the foreground. I also tried processing this image a bit differently than I normally do in an attempt to recreate an 'eerie' feeling.
